Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Amazon Pona Lodge
We depart early from Cusco, crossing the Andes and descending into the cloud forest, one of the most biodiverse areas in the region. Along the way, we make several stops to observe endemic species such as the Andean cock-of-the-rock, monkeys, and a variety of birds.
Continuing our journey, we descend into the Amazon basin, arriving in the afternoon at Amazon Pona Lodge. After settling into your comfortable accommodation, you will have time to explore the surroundings and enjoy your first contact with the rainforest.
In the evening, there is an optional night walk where we can observe insects, amphibians, and nocturnal wildlife.
Day 2: Amazon Pona – Hummingbird Garden – Atalaya – Hot Springs – Dorado Lodge
After breakfast, we visit a beautiful hummingbird garden, where several species can be observed up close.
We then continue to Atalaya Port, where we board a motorized boat and navigate along the Alto Madre de Dios River, observing wildlife such as capybaras, caimans, turtles, and a wide variety of birds along the riverbanks.
In the afternoon, we visit natural hot springs, a perfect place to relax in the middle of the jungle.
Later, we continue navigating until we reach Dorado Lodge, where we spend the night.

Day 3: Dorado Lodge – Blanquillo Lodge – Cocha Camungo – Observation Tower
After breakfast, we continue by boat deeper into the rainforest towards Blanquillo Lodge, located near one of the most important macaw clay licks in the region.
Upon arrival, we explore Cocha Camungo (oxbow lake), navigating quietly in search of wildlife such as monkeys, birds, reptiles, and possibly giant otters.
Later, we climb the observation tower, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Amazon canopy — ideal for birdwatching and photography.

Day 4: Blanquillo – Macaw Clay Lick – Cocha Blanco
Very early in the morning, we head to the impressive Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick, where hundreds of parrots and macaws gather daily to feed on mineral-rich clay.
This is one of the highlights of the tour and a unique opportunity to witness one of the most spectacular wildlife shows in the Amazon.
After breakfast, we return to the lodge and later visit Cocha Blanco, another oxbow lake rich in biodiversity, home to giant otters, black caimans, and a great variety of bird species.

Day 5: Blanquillo – Colorado – Puerto Maldonado – Cabaña Quinta
After breakfast, we travel by boat back along the river to Colorado, and then continue by land to Puerto Maldonado, the capital of the Madre de Dios region.
This day offers a transition between remote rainforest and local Amazon communities.
In the afternoon, there is an optional visit to a viewpoint in Puerto Maldonado, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset over the city and the surrounding Amazon forest — a great opportunity for photos.
Later, we transfer to Cabaña Quinta, located in the Tambopata area.

Day 6: Tambopata – Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick – Puerto Maldonado (End of Tour)
Early in the morning, we depart from Puerto Maldonado by car for approximately 1 hour along the Interoceanic Highway.
From there, we continue by motorized boat for around 1 hour and 30 minutes along the Tambopata River until reaching the famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, one of the largest and most spectacular clay licks in the Amazon.
Here, we will have the opportunity to observe dozens of macaws and parrots gathering to feed on mineral-rich clay, creating an unforgettable wildlife experience.
After this activity, we return by boat and then by car back to Puerto Maldonado.
Upon arrival, the tour concludes. Travelers have the option to stay an additional night in Puerto Maldonado or take an afternoon flight to Cusco or Lima, depending on their travel plans.
