Day 1: Cusco – Amazon Pona lodge.
We leave Cusco early in the morning in our private car adapted for the route with mountains and jungle, in the course of the trip we will pass many places of tourist attraction such as: Ninamarca funeral towers which is a pre-Inca construction of the Lupaca Kindong, then we will be passing through the valley of Paucartambo and a small town of paucartambo known as the folkloric capital of Peru, then we will arrive at the Ajanaco pass which is the beginning of the Manu National Park, from this point We will descend to the Amazon rainforest; going through a unique cloud forest in the world. In this area we will make short stops and hikes to see exotic and colorfull birds of the cloud forest especially the Peruvian National bird; the Andean cock-of-the-rocks also toucans, tanagers, quetzals, motmots, etc. and monkeys such as: gray wooly Monkey and Brown Capuchin Monkeys and coaties, with good luck Sloths and Spectacled Bear and a variety of flowers and orchids. Day 2: Amazon Pona Lodge – Papaya Lodge.
After breakfast at the lodge, we continue our journey in our private car to the river port of Atalaya. On the way we visit a coca plantation to explain about this interesting plant, then we also visit a botanical garden of beautiful orchids with a great variety of hummingbirds which is a beautiful place for photographs the hummingbirds, Arriving at Atalaya we change transportation and start the trip by motorised boat on the Madre de Dios River, arriving approximately mid-morning towards the lodge and then we will walk through a beautiful forest with giant trees in search of animals.
In the afternoon we will go to the other side of the river to Machuwasi lake, here we do our activity looking for animals such as: the Capybara which is the largest rodent in the world, we will also look for the squirrel, dasky titi and brown capuchin monkeys, and a great variety of birds that live in Amazonian lakes like: the prehistoric bird Hoatzin (shansho), Horned screamer (camungo), purple gallinule, cardinals, toucans and many more birds; and You will enjoy driving the topa rafts just like the Natives do, which we are sure you will like.
And here we will stay until gets dark to see much easier the caiman, on the way back we will do a night walk to look for frogs, snakes, tarantulas and much more insects. Returning to the lodge for dinner and spend the night in the lodge. B.L.D.
Day 3: Soga de Oro Lodge – Cusco
Very early we leave the lodge towards a beautiful clay lick of parrots and macaws (this clay is a place rich in minerals, where many species of birds frequently visit in the mornings). After enjoying this scenario we return to the lodge for breakfast and then we return to the river port of Atalaya and from there we return in our private car to Cusco making some small stops sieque we see some animals on the way arriving in Cusco at approximately 6pm, end of the trip.
