Manu Cultural Zone – Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick 6D/5N

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Bambú Lodge.

We leave Cusco early in the morning in our private car adapted for the route with mountains and jungle, in the course of the trip we will pass many places of tourist attraction such as: Ninamarca Wich is a pre-Inca construction of the Lupaca Kindong culture, then we will be passing through the valley of Paucartambo and a small town of paucartambo known as the folkloric capital of Peru, then we will arrive at the Ajanaco pass which is the beginning of the Manu National Park from this point we will descend to the Amazon rainforest; going through a unique cloud forest in the world. In this area we will make short stops and hikes to see exotic birds of the cloud forest especially the Peruvian National  bird the Andean Cock-of-the-rocks, Toucans, Tanagers and mammals such as Monkeys and Coaties, with good luck Sloths and a variety of flowers and orchids.  arriving at sunset to Our Lodge. Day 2: Bamboo Lodge – Papaya Lodge.

After breakfast at the lodge we continue our trip in our private car to the fluvial port of Atalaya, from there we start our trip in a motorized boat through the Madre de Dios River to the Natural hot springs and then to the next lodge, the trip will be for 4 to 5 hours by boat, on the way we can see many species of birds such as herons, macaws, toucans, kingfishers, etc. and animals like the capybara, which is the largest rodent in the world and to enjoy the beautiful Amazonian landscape, in the afternoon we will arrive at the lodge.

At the lodge we will have a short break to relax from the long journey in the boat, later we make a little walk along the trails of the shelter looking for insects, birds, mammals, monkeys; then we return for dinner. B.L.D.

Day 3: Papaya Lodge – Maquisapayoc Lodge.

On this day we continue our journey along the Madre de Dios River for 4 to 5 hours towards Maquisapayoc Lodge. by the Madre de Dios River after joining the Manu river (bocamanu), which is two hours from the lodge. We will have the chance to see white alligators, black alligator on the beaches of the Madre de Dios River with good luck Jaguar, Giant Anteater, Lazy Bear; We will arrive at the Lodge for our lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Camungo Lake, here we will climb a 30 meters high tower to see parrots, macaws, eagles, toucans and many species of birds flying through the treetops, and enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and it is a good place to see birds of the canopy that can not be seen from the base of the trees. In the lake from the tower you can also see the Giant Otters, Caimans and many birds that live in the Amazonian lakes. B.L.D.

Day 4: Maquisapayoq Lodge –  Blanquillo Macaw Clay-lick.

This day we will get up early in the morning to see parrots and macaws in the famous  Blanquillo Macaw-clay-lick, here we spend the whole morning watching the spectacular scenery of parrots and macaws eating clay, sometimes you can also see even small cats that come to Hunt the macaws. Then we return to the lodge and in the afternoon we start walking towards a mammals Clay-lick and we stay there for 3 to 4 hours to see animals at night especially the Tapir and then return to the Lodge to sleep. Day 5:  Maquisapayoq Lodge – Blanco Lake.

This day we do full activity in the morning we explore the lake on a catamaran, here we can see the Giant Otter (river wolf) in process of extinction, because every day eats between 3 to 5 kilos of fish each of them, and there are not many more lakes in the Amazon jungle with abundant fish, only in national parks such as Manu. We will also see more alligators, turtles, herons, many species of monkeys in large groups. In the afternoon after lunch we continue to explore this beautiful jungle looking for more species of animals, and the guide will explain the relationship between plant, animal, insect and the function of different ecosystems and the medicinal functions of plants. At night an optional night walk. B.LD.

Day 6: Maquisapayoq Lodge – Cusco.

This day we return to Cusco by a different route; we will travel downstream to Puerto Colorado, from there we will take a private car that brings us back home making short stops on the way to Cusco, and it is the end of the trip. B.L.
